I've never made nor eaten stuffed cabbage, but this recipe looks so good I think I'll try this next weekend (when we'll have time for a "St. Patrick's Day Observed," with Irish flicks, music and food!) I have one package of tempeh left in the freezer, so it seems fated. Sure, an' thanks for the foin recipe, ye bonny wee lass! :-)
Stuffed cabbage is so tempting to make - it tastes and looks so good. Yours looks beautiful, and stuffing it with tempeh is a great idea. I wish I weren't so lazy, or that I didn't have to steam the cabbage. (Grrrr to burned fingers) Have you ever made kale or collard rolls? I wonder how that would compare.
As promised we made this for dinner yesterday and it's absolutely delicious! I made only two minor changes; I did my sautéing with a little bit of water instead of oil, and for the tomato sauce I added about 1/4 tsp of garlic powder instead of the sautéed garlic clove (time and stove space being problematic at that point!) We really loved this dish and intend to not only make it our annual St. Patrick's Day meal, but will enjoy it frequently the rest of the year. Thanks so much for this great recipe!
P.S. This was the first meal we made using our lovely new baking dish we got for Christmas - I'm glad its maiden voyage was so successful! :-)
"Loofy!" LOL! That's now officially my favorite nickname! :-) (And you're welcome, Mitty! ;-) I can now add my opinion that these cabbage rolls are also wonderful as leftovers!)

ReplyDeleteIt's great with mashed potatoes!
Is there anything that isn't? :-)
Oh wow, those look perfect! And I have another block of tempeh sitting around--might be the perfect recipe to use it on!
