Fire Up the Grill

There are few things cuter than an old-fashioned charcoal grill. Since Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer (even if our temperatures are still in the 50s), we uncovered our little Weber and grilled up tofu with Brown Sugar JalapeƱo Barbecue Sauce, corn on the cob, and potatoes. I'm working on a recipe for grilled potato salad, but the weather hasn't been cooperating this week. A hint: skewer and parboil your potatoes before tossing them on the fire to brown. This ensures they cook all the way through.

What are your favorite vegan foods for the grill?

  1. I like to grill zucchinis and summer squash and have them in burritos with brown rice and black beans and guacamole.

  2. What are my favorite vegan foods to grill? Well, yours are lookin' pretty incredible ~ can I have some? (I could eat every one of those potatoes all by myself, and not feel the least bit ashamed about it!) :-)

We have an old-fashioned charcoal grill like yours, and we always throw some mesquite wood (from the big stash we brought with us from our property in Texas 21 years ago!) on the charcoals. We love the flavor mesquite imparts to our grilled foods - our favorites being marinated tofu and various veggies (grilled on skewers and served over rice), and marinated portobello mushroom caps.

We haven't fired up our grill yet this season, but that's always a fun day when we do!
